Painter and photographer Rick Lieder has been creating fine art
and illustration for adults and children for many years.
His art has appeared on award-winning novels ranging from
mysteries and science fiction, to books based on the X-Files TV series.
Two Newbery Award-winning books, PRINCESS ACADEMY and A SINGLE SHARD,
featured his covers, and his art graced two young adult novels named
to Amazon.com’s Top Ten List of Teen Books for 2003:
Keeper of the Night and Buddha Boy.
His fine art has been exhibited in galleries in the United States,
Canada and The United Kingdom.
His first picture book, STEP GENTLY OUT, in collaboration with
Printz Award-winning poet Helen Frost, will be published by
Candlewick Press in March 2012, and is available now for pre-order.
Helen was inspired by Rick’s wildlife photographs to write the lovely
and lyrical text, and together they’ve created a picture book
suitable for all ages. STEP GENTLY OUT invites the reader to look
more closely at the beautiful world available to all of us, just a step away.
